Commonly known as ‘Athlete’s Foot’, it is actually a type of fungal infection on the skin, also called Tinea pedis. Athlete’s foot can generally be classified into common types, including Vesiculobullous (blister-like), Moccasin (moccasing-type), and Hyperkeratotic (over keratinized) types. The Vesiculobullous type primarily appears as small pustules on the outer sides or toes with itchy, deep-seated blisters that may form a ringworm-like peeling upon drying. The Moccasin type mainly affects the sole of the foot, manifesting as scaling and peeling, often with no apparent blisters or lesions. The Hyperkeratotic type primarily occurs on the heel and sole of the foot, characterized by dryness, flaking, thickening of the skin, and cracks that may cause discomfort when walking. Treatment: Regularly wash socks, change shoes frequently, keep feet dry, and apply antifungal creams.
