Athlete’s foot, also known as ‘Hong Kong foot’, is a type of fungal infection. It is a contagious skin disease. The main types are: the moist form with maceration, vesicular form, verrucous plaque form, and hyperkeratotic form. Lowered immunity and sweaty feet, especially in damp conditions, can trigger it. It usually occurs at the soles of the feet, between the toes, heels, and other areas. Treatment typically involves applying Diclofenac or Ciclopirox ointments externally, and using oral Itraconazole for severe cases as an antifungal medication. Wearing cotton socks, breathable shoes, avoiding shared towels, and bathmats is also important.
